Tesla Semi passará pelo primeiro teste independente no evento Run On Less Trucking

Para um veículo aparentemente tão inovador e revolucionário quanto o Tesla Semi, relativamente poucos detalhes foram anunciados sobre o caminhão Classe 8. Isso mudará quando a PepsiCo trouxer um de seus Semis para o evento de caminhões ‘Run on Less’ em setembro.

A PepsiCo foi a primeira empresa a receber uma frota de Tesla Semis e o evento Run on Less permitirá que a empresa veja exatamente do que o caminhão é capaz. O Semi será operado com uma carga útil máxima e completará um teste de ida e volta de até 500 milhas (805 km). Dados importantes dos testes serão publicados online, incluindo a distância total percorrida, bem como o efeito da velocidade e da distância na carga da bateria. O diretor executivo do North American Council for Freight Efficiency, Mike Roeth, disse Auto News que conseguir um Tesla Semi para participar do evento é um grande negócio, devido ao seu potencial para interromper a indústria de caminhões de uma maneira importante.

Quando tesla apresentou o Semi em produção pela primeira vez no final do ano passado, revelou que havia concluído uma operação de sua fábrica em Fremont, Califórnia, para uma fábrica de engarrafamento da PepsiCo em San Diego. A Tesla diz que o Semi estava totalmente carregado com cerca de 82.000 libras (37.194 kg) e completou a viagem de 500 milhas com 4% de bateria restante.

PepsiCo espera receber 100 Tesla Semis este ano. Outros fabricantes de caminhões, incluindo Volvo, Freightliner e Nikola, também terão caminhões elétricos participando do evento.
